Justice OWL 2021 Lookahead
The following is a guest post from Nicole Bansen, Social Media Producer at OS Studios.
A new year means a new season for the Overwatch League! There’s a lot to look forward to, so here are just a few things we can’t wait to see.
Reunited And It Feels So Good!
This is the season of reunited friends and teammates in the Overwatch League. Our team is no exception. In fact, there’s a LOT of shared history amongst Justice players and coaches! Below is a brief overlook at some of the connections:
Seven - TtuBa (2017-2018), Supreme (Founder and Head Coach), Jerry (Trainee)
Hangzhou Spark - Supreme (Assistant Coach 2018-2019), Bebe (2018-2020), Ria (2018-2020)
Dallas Fuel - Closer (2019-2020), Decay (2020)
X6-Gaming - Ria (2018), Bebe (2017-2018), Jerry (joined after in 2018)
Team MVP - Closer (2016-2017), TtuBa (2018-2019)
O2 Blast - Chilhwa (Coach 2019-2020), TtuBa (2019)
GC Busan - Hocury (Head Coach 2017), Closer (2017)
London Spitfire - Closer (2018), Fury (2018-2019)
Everything is connected!
Mag’s Overwatch League Debut
If you’ve been paying attention to Overwatch Contenders, you’ll know that Mag is coming off an impressive season with RunAway. He’s dazzled many with his Winston and Reinhardt and we can’t wait to see him in action this season!
A Tournament-Based Structure For 2021
I think we can all agree that last year wasn’t great. While we were all looking forward to a season full of Homestands, it was necessary to make the switch to online matches. But with that switch came the addition of tournaments to shake things up! The May Melee, Summer Showdown, and Countdown Cup were tons of fun, so we’re excited to be shifting to a tournament format for this season!
Improved Digital Fan Interactions
Jon Spector, the VP of Overwatch Esports, recently gave us an update on things to expect for OWL 2021. One of the big announcements included news of improved digital fan interactions! This is crucial as we head into another year where live-events may not be possible. As a team, our fans mean everything to us and it makes us so happy to hear that the League is working towards making last year’s online experience even better. And who knows, maybe we’ll have some upcoming digital fan interactions too! ;)
Let us know on social what you’re most looking forward to this season!
