Community: Better Together
The following is a guest post from Arina Wu, Grassroots Community Coordinator of the Washington Justice.
As we are ending the year with stay at home order still in place--with self-isolation still encouraged--the community continues to reach people across the globe. We have bonded through the highs and lows of the 2020 season, gotten to know each other with online events, and support each other during the off season. The community has not seen one another in 9 months, but that does not mean it stopped existing.
Focus was shifted to strengthening and connecting more fans together online after everything came to an abrupt halt. This season was the season where we would finally come home. For the team to unite fans together at live events and to cheer them on in person. But, that doesn’t mean we couldn’t cheer them on from home. Every Justice game, you were at our watch parties either in chat or in voice to root for the team to send “🌲SPAM 🌲 THIS 🌲 TREE 🌲 TO 🌲 HELP🌲 DC 🌲” to saying “GG” after a tough match. We still all felt the live excitement of the game together.
We brought you community events where we would see familiar faces every week. Not only at watch parties, but also game nights, community tournaments, and questions n answers. I personally feel like I have created real bonds with people from the community, and I hope you guys could depend on the organization to keep delivering more events and to have something to look forward to in the week. Because it is always a joy to play together.
Vice & Virtue, our official Washington Justice fan group has also stepped up during the pandemic. They have been flexible and able to provide more events on top of the Justice ones such as Virtual Happy Hours and Movie Nights. These more intimate get-togethers have helped all of us feel a little less alone as we are still self isolating ourselves from the world. Since the inception of the team, V&V has been a pillar in bringing the Justice Community together.
So, thank you for being part of this community! Whether you joined to find more Justice fans or to be a part of something greater or to just enter for token giveaways, you are part of the Justice Community. Thank you to our lovely mods and admins of Justicecord. Thank you for just saying pog when the team makes a huge play during a match. Thank you for always wanting the best for the organization. In the end, the Justice will continue being there for the community as much as the community will be there for the team. We are all here together.
