Photo Edits
Recently we edited some photos live on Instagram Live. We took a poll to see which worked better: color or black and white. The digital camera generally takes the photo in color, so choosing black and white is a major step in how the photo will be finished. It’s fun to get your input.
What do you think of the difference in color versus black and white? I find the above image has a bit more intensity to the players. Also, since the photo has a narrow depth of field, the blurry parts of the image seem less jarring.
Sometimes I enjoy both images, but for different reasons. Sup7eme’s jacket pops really well as a contrast, but the black and what version just seems so much brighter.
This shot of Goldenboy during our first homestand shows one of my favorite differences in color or B&W. The red light in the color image is overpowering, details of his face seem to be not as distinct. Meanwhile, the B&W image is a more atmospheric image. His face pops a bit better.
There are many ways to approach an image. Making the choice between color and B&W is usually where I begin. I want to thank everyone who’s chatted with me on our Instagram Live edit sessions. It’s fun getting the live input.
Let’s go play some Overwatch!
